Oyster River; Sun Jul 25, 2010; hiking; leader: Bucky Buchanan

Ten CDMC members and one prospective member and ardent photographer ventured out on a hot, clear day perfect for a walk in along a shady forest trail beside a clear, cold, swiftly flowing river.. The river was unusually high for this time of year creating several deep inviting swimming holes however no one was brave enough to actually get wet. Although advertised as only a 10m elevation gain just to make it interesting we climbed the 10m three times. The advertised bushwhacking was washed out due to an impenetrable logjam left by the spring flood. Luckily the same flood had over filled the beaver pond and it was draining across the trail, necessitating a scramble through the forest tangle to find a semi-dry path to the remaining high ground around the dam. The stream crossings, however were unavoidable and deeper than expected. This year there were three creeks to cross but Geoff's bridge finding skills kept everyone dry.
