Ken gathered the group at the Courthouse for an early start to what was originally planned as a Mt Joan outing but because of the steep pitch and the amount of snow on this route, we altered course to a sister peak, Mt Curran. After boarding the Denman crew, at the highway junction, we were treated to a rainbow and wild cloud formations, on our ascent, along with strong updrafts when we rose above the tree-line. We decided to have morning coffee and weigh our options as the weather was deteriorating. Most wished to push on and to our good fortune visibility began to improve, which gave us some nice views of the islands plus some limited peeks of the surrounding peaks. On the summit we were hard pressed to believe that this was summer with the wind chill taking the temperature close to zero (Centigrade)! Our leisurely lunch was abbreviated due to this lack of warmth and we headed down all looking very Eskimoan. The highlights of our descent were snow sliding competitions and snowball fights... Unbelievable that we are about to enter July! Twas a great day in the company of an enjoyable party, including a few new faces and I was happy to be part of it... Thanks Ken for organizing a better than expected day.
