Goose Spit To Kye Bay; Wed May 26, 2010; hiking; leader: Krista Kaptein

A handful of hardy hikers headed out hopefully on this hike....

Starting at Goose Spit, we were well prepared with rain gear, and an umbrella came in handy! The rain diminished & we enjoyed the numerous eagles, herons, swallows, harlequins, scoters, and even one kingfisher along the way. We noticed the bluffs just below the Coast Guard station on Wireless Rd. are actively eroding. Lots of interesting low tide life at Kye Bay - thousands of tiny sand dollars, clams squirting at our feet, a moon snail egg case, and geoduck siphon holes in the sand.

It begain raining again after lunch on the beach, but we had left a vehicle at Kye Bay so the hike was shortened to a one-way trip of 7 km.
