3 Falls; Sun Apr 18, 2010; hiking; leader: William Wright

Setting out under overcast skies but with forecast precipitation holding off, the gang wended their way, upstream, along the banks of the Puntledge River. On our way to Stotan Falls we passed the discovery site of the elasmosaurus which was found entombed in river shale, by a young girl, during late 1988 and is now mounted in the Courtenay Museum.

Passing over Stotan Falls the group then made it's way to the mouth of the Brown's River for morning coffee and from there, upriver, to the Brown's River Falls where we enjoyed a spot of sunshine.

Lunch was taken back on the Puntledge River, at Nymph Falls but, was cut short by a band of young hikers who thought essential gear included beer, smokes and young scantily clad girls, which they proceeded to woo with much hooting and jumping in the raging, not to mention chilly torrent... our elderly crew were probably thinking where do we sign up!

After this excitement we proceeded downstream, below Stotan Falls, for afternoon tea and more sunshine... Trilliums, White Fawn Lilies, Flowering Red Currants and Salmonberry Blooms added brightness to the journey home. We covered 16 kms over 7 hours with an elevation gain of less than 300 m's... The only damages incurred were a few dampish feet on several creek crossings. A lovely outing with better than expected conditions.

As a post-note to this trip, some of the troops gathered at the DQ to add what had been lost "en route".
