Battleship Lake; Mon Dec 26, 2011; snowshoeing; leader: Tim Penney      return to Reports

Nine club members and one guest turned out for an excellent Boxing Day snowshoe out to Battleship lake and back via Helen Mackenzie Lake. It was snowing and a bit breezy for most of the trip, but we found a few sheltered spots for our tea and lunch breaks.

With 17cm of fresh snow in the past 48 hours the trees and trails were all looking quite pristine again. The fresh snow was not too heavy so breaking trail was quite an easy chore.

We stopped in at the Raven Lodge for the usual refreshments before heading back to the dark side of the valley.
