Mount Elma Crossover Trip; Thu Jan 07, 2010; snowshoeing; leader: Tim Penney      return to Reports

We started from the Raven Lodge at just after 9:00 AM and followed the summer route out to Battleship Lake. We went to the south end of the lake, crossed over the groomed ski trail and gained some elevation to a point between Kooso and Lady Lakes. From there we followed the steep ridge line zig zagging up until it levelled out again about half a mile from the summit. We stopped for lunch at the lookout point, then returned down the west side of the mountain and back to the Raven Lodge for the usual hot chocolate.

Even though it wasn't a sunny day we had good visibility and great snow conditions for the steep slog up to the summit. As it turned out we just missed the next rainy spell that has continued into the weekend.

It was another good day on the mountain with Tim Penney, Bob St.John, Linda Hamilton and William Wright all having enjoyed a good bit of exercise.
